Abraham, jiddischer Schriftsteller, * Starokonstantinow (Gebiet Chmelnizkij) 12. 7. 1840, ✝ New York 9. 1. 1908; gilt als Begründer des modernen jiddischen Theaters und trug entscheidend zur Ablösung des jiddischen Laienspiels durch eine Professionalisierung des jiddischen Theaters bei, für das er als Autor, Komponist, Theaterdirektor, Regisseur und Darsteller wirkte. Die Themen zu seinen Stücken (darunter »Sulamith«, 1880, »Bar Kochba«, 1882) sind häufig der Geschichte des jüdischen Volkes entnommen, schildern daneben u. a. aber auch das Leben der osteuropäischen Juden.
